What Is Bio-Energetics?

The science of bio-energetics is a non-invasive analysis that accurately measures the energetic health of specific organs using the Qest4 System. “The Basics” 

In the late 1940s, a German medical doctor and engineer, Dr. Reinhard Voll, began researching and proving an innovative testing method now known as EAV (Electro-Acupuncture according to Voll, also known as EDS, Electro-Dermal Screening). This method was documented and proven in over a decade of hospital studies in Germany, and today EAV is widely used throughout Europe by over 25,000 medical practitioners. Everyone is familiar with the fact that we have many different organs and glands in the body. We are also familiar with the highly organized and complex Nervous System and the Circulatory System. Initially, we consider that all these organs, glands, and systems are physical and chemical in nature. We can touch, see, and measure these aspects.

We know that science has proven these attributes, and we take science’s accounts of such nature to be true. But there is also an unseen component of all these organs, glands, and systems called the Energetic System. This Energetic System is not physical or chemical in its nature. Instead, it is pure energy.

The Energetic System is virtually invisible. Many people believe that the Energetic System does not exist. Often, it is the nature of our strict analytical minds to deny the existence of that which cannot be seen. Some individuals claim to be able to see “Auras” and “Chakras,” and some claim they can “Feel” different energies in the body. These types of phenomena are examples of the Energetic System. But generally, we can’t feel this Energy, we can’t see it, and we can’t measure it. So how do we know that it exists?

It is best that we start our explanation of the Energetic system with a basic understanding of Acupuncture. For centuries, Chinese doctors have been practicing the art of “Acupuncture”. Acupuncture is based on a system of “Meridians”. The Meridians are explained as a network of “Energy” channels that are used for communication and for moving energy throughout the body.

An acupuncture physician uses needles that are placed at specific “Points” to stimulate the flow of Energy to specific organs and glands. For example, the needle may be placed near the base of the index (pointer) finger to stimulate the Large Intestine or near the back of the temple and to the front and top of the ear to stimulate the Hypothalamus. There are twenty-one (21) basic EAV Meridians (Chinese doctors typically use 12 Meridians), each corresponding to the major organs and glands of the body.

Along each of these Meridians, there are found to be many Acupuncture “Points”. Primary Testing Objective when Using the Qest4 System

How is this test performed?

When the test is conducted in person using the Bluetooth QEST4 version, there are no wires connecting to the computer.  The system is automatically searches to connect on Wi-Fi mode to the computer.

The individual being tested holds the embedded brass electrodes of the Bluetooth box as shown above.

The individual being tested on the Hardwire Desktop version, holds the independent electrodes in each hand as shown below.

In the Hardwire Desktop version, each electrode has a wire that connects to the Qest4 hardware box. From the box, another wire connects to the computer. A short electrical circuit is made between the individual being tested and the Qest4 System.

The computer contains very sophisticated software that displays the assessment with anatomical graphics and informative descriptions.

What’s a good example to understand this further?

What else do we need to understand?

That the Qest4 System is not a diagnostic tool. This method of testing the body energetically may be unconventional, but it is similar to how the EKG was developed. Both measure the electrical activity of body organs.

When analyzing the electrical activity of organs using Meridians, the generated computerized reports provide valuable information that high light a wide range of health-related issues. At the same time, it offers alternative approaches to compliment bio-chemistry based medicine. No “band-aids” or “magic pills”.

Original Development and Use

ElectroDermal Screening (EDS) consists of obtaining conductance measurements at different (acupressure) locations on the skin, storing these baseline measurements, and displaying these readings on a monitor. The normal flow of electrical energy is briefly inhibited by a microcurrent, and the conductance was again measured. While the subject is the ground for a closed system, the instrument functions as a micro-Ohm meter. The technique is non-invasive and has no-risk to the subject. The instrument is calibrated to read the resistance on a scale of 0 (lowest conductance) to 100 (highest conductance).

The higher conductance has been associated with inflammation, while the lower conductance is associated with degeneration. Each of these acupuncture points become part of one or more channels or meridians and generally follow the Chinese Meridian lines. Ordinarily, the normal individual will register about 50 plus or minus 5-10 on this scale for each point. In general, it is thought that the point of higher conductance represents an imbalance with higher energy, while a lower conductance represents an imbalance with lower energy. However, this does not imply that an EDS disturbance (higher or lower conductance) corresponds to pathological changes in an organ that is named as a specific acupuncture point or meridian.

Study Design

This study of ElectroDermal Screening (EDS) was designed as blinded to the EDS operator in which 500 patients were evaluated by the EDS technique without the aid of medical history or a physical examination or diagnosis known to the operator before the testing. The same patient was immediately evaluated by a separate rater, an MD or ND student who did a complete history and physical examination and complete laboratory test results. Following the data pooling, an additional statistician evaluated and correlated the results. The construction of the study was to measure the capability of the EDS system for the purpose of evaluating sub-physiologic hypothyroidism in women and to evaluate the EDS without the interview technique.

Method of Study

Each of the patients was randomly assigned to the study from a clinic pool of 1,800 patients after appropriate approval was granted. A complete medical and surgical history and examination were obtained at the time of the study, and all of the necessary supporting laboratory data was provided to support the medical diagnosis. Each patient was evaluated, without any interview, by the EDS operator and then by an MD or ND student. A diagnosis was made on the basis of the detailed biochemical laboratory data. The laboratory for each patient was compared to the medical diagnosis and the EDS graphic recording. Control patients without sub-physiologic hypothyroid levels were also tested by the same EDS operator.

Conclusion

This study has demonstrated the effectiveness of ElectroDermal Screening (EDS) with both the clinical and laboratory diagnosis in 500 patients with sub-physiologic hypothyroid have been compared to 100 normal age-adjusted control subjects. The correlation between the EDS measured abnormalities, using standard deviation (SDI) criteria, and patients with the sub-physiologic hypothyroid state were statistically significant at 99.5% with a P< 0.005. Thus EDS has demonstrated its effectiveness as a valuable tool for the analysis and diagnoses of sub-physiologic hypothyroid levels.
